Doolittle Raid TF16 scenery FREEWARE

This release contains scenery that depicts the ships of Task Force 16 that delivered the Doolittle Raiders to their launch point on April 18th 1942.
In honor of the 62nd anniversary of the raid, we are pleased to release the ships that were present the day of the launch.

Simmers will now be able to land and launch from the carriers. Also an example catapult entry is available for catapult shots from the cruiser Salt Lake City.

There are two airport entries built using AFCAD 2.1 by Lee Swordy.

The position of the Hornet launch was established using coordinates cited by Samuel Eliot Morison in his volume III The Rising Sun in the Pacific 1931-April 1942 pg 394.


TO INSTALL:

Simply unzip the contents of the VN_TF16.zip file into your FS9/Addon Scenery folder... heirarchy should then be as follows

Also, all the ships are included in a library BGL file made possible by using Library Creator XML by Arno Gerretsen.

TAKEOFF NOTES:
Highly recommend using the MAAM B-25 "Briefing Time".... let out full flaps... and then full throttle ... release brakes.... a successful takeoff should be in the making.

Of course if one wants to try from a shorter distance...make sure you have wind coming down the bow 344 degrees... FS9 only allows a max wind of 36 kts!

Also would recommend Doug Dawson's excellent carrier_ops_guage_pack.zip ... to allow Catapult launches and tailhook landings. Some panel configuration might be needed depending on the plane.
